Birthstones, gems on display at store
Opal Fields is hosting a holiday gem and jewelry show through Sunday. On view are rare gems from Asia and Africa; November birthstone topaz from Brazil; December birthstone blue zircon from Cambodia; and Lightning Ridge black opals.

Artists sale opens at Palolo Hongwanji
The annual Jasmine Street Studio Sale returns Saturday and Sunday at a new venue, the Palolo Hongwanji at 1641 Palolo Ave.
The event brings together a gathering of artists and creative friends offering an array of gift items and edibles from 9 a.m. to noon.
In addition to silver-clay and gemstone wearable art jewelry creations by Candice Wakumoto, Cora Yee’s necklaces and earrings made from exotic stones and Nepali handmade pendants and silver crown flowers, Paradisus Jewelry and Joolries by Deb will join the event.
There will also be totes by Gary Fujimoto and Kim Kono, and one-of-a-kind clothing from Kim Messier.
Other participants are Lisa Yoshihara, Kati Kuroda, Gary Nomura and Mari Sakumoto, and when you get hungry, check out Sweet Charlotte’s newest treat, Chocolate Diablo Cookies, plus other favorites like an all-natural Almond Energy Bar and Macadamia Nut Puffed Rice Candy. Gordon Edlin will be offering a limited selection of Surinam cherry, poha jam and Mapulehu mango chutney.

Jewelry designer to show off pieces
Cottage by the Sea is celebrating its eighth anniversary with an in-store event Saturday featuring $1,000 worth of jewelry giveaways, a beauty bar, trunk sale and guest appearance by L.A.-based jewelry designer Robyn Rhodes, who will be offering her new 2012 collections at a 20 percent discount.
The jewelry designer’s pieces are a favorite of celebs Jessica Alba, Penelope Cruz and Anna Faris, and Rhodes’ pieces have been seen on television series including "Entourage," the new "Charlie’s Angels" and "E! News."
The trunk sale starts Friday and continues on Saturday.
On Saturday, there will be a fashion show featuring Rhodes’ designs and clothing lines featured at the boutique. From noon to 4 p.m., there will be jewelry giveaways every half hour, with no purchase necessary to enter the drawing. There will also be a beauty bar by Salon 808, holiday cocktails and pupu.

Fashion show to benefit bone marrow unit
The Hawaii Bone Marrow Donor Registry will present a "Thanks for Giving" hair and fashion show luncheon Sunday at the Hawaii Prince Hotel.
Doors will open at 10:30 a.m. for the event, a fundraiser for the registry’s mission of facilitating bone marrow and blood stem-cell transplants.
On view will be fashion and accessories from a roster of local designers and boutiques in styles for the whole family. Participants are Anne Namba Designs, BECCA beach Kahala, Cinnamon Girl, East Honolulu Clothing Co., Fighting Eel, Hawaiian Island Creations, IOLANI on Kona Street, Jams World, Jewelry by Beverly Creamer, Manuheali‘i, Princess Kaiulani Fashions and Bridal Collections, Stephanie C, Therapy Boutique and Tori Richard, with hair by the Paul Mitchell Hawaii Education Team and Paul Mitchell The School Honolulu. The garments will be modeled by a mix of models, friends of the registry, donors, recipients and patients.
