Spear fisherman dies after being pulled from ocean off Makapuu
A man who ran into trouble while spearfishing in waters off Makapuu was taken to Castle Medical Center in critical condition early Saturday afternoon and later died, officials said.
The man, 62, was pulled ashore by city lifeguards about 1 p.m. near the bathrooms at a beach called “Baby Makapuu,” across the street from Sea Life Park, officials from the Department of Emergency Services said.
Lifeguards performed CPR?before paramedics transported him to the hospital, where he died.
