Firefighters rescue hiker with injured foot on Maunawili Falls Trail
Firefighters rescued a woman in her 30s today after she hurt her foot while hiking on Maunawili Falls Trail in Kailua.
The Kaneohe woman apparently slipped near stairs going up to the waterfall about 2:20 p.m., said Honolulu fire Capt. Terry Seelig. She wasn’t able to walk after the injury, and her companions called for help, Seelig said.
Firefighters hiked in and moved her to an area where she could be picked up by a fire helicopter.
The woman was airlifted out to Maunawili Valley Neighborhood Park by a fire helicopter and transferred to paramedics about 3:30 p.m.
