Dunhour picks Notre Dame de Namur

Academy of the Pacific graduate Micah Dunhour signed a letter of intent to play basketball at Notre Dame de Namur University (Calif.), according to athletic director Ryan Hogue.

Dunhour, a 6-foot-5 guard, will receive a partial athletic scholarship, plus financial aid to cover costs. Notre Dame de Namur, a Division II school in the Pacific West Conference, is coached by former Kailua standout George Puou.

Dunhour also had scholarship offers from HPU and Concordia (Oregon), Hogue said. Dunhour, from Kawaihae, was No. 2 in the Star-Advertiser All-State Fab 15 voting by coaches and media.

Hawaii Pacific hoops signs 2

Two players will be joining Hawaii Pacific men’s basketball, the team’s staff announced Monday.

Sean Jones and David Nwaba will play for the Sea Warriors next season.

Jones is a 6-foot-6 forward from Shoreline Community College (Washington), where he averaged 17.5 points, five rebounds and three assists in two seasons.

Nwaba, a 6-4 wing, averaged 22.3 points, 11.5 rebounds and 2.9 blocks last season for University High in Los Angeles.

Hawaii-Hilo signs 2 hoops players

Two Sacramento City College players will join Hawaii-Hilo for next season, according to coach Jeff Law.

C.J. Brown, a 6-foot-2 point guard, averaged 5.2 assists and 7.8 points last season.

Kiel Myers, a 6-8 wing, averaged 15.8 points and 6.6 rebounds.

Rainbow Wahine in 10th place

Hawaii is in 10th place out of 18 teams after Monday’s first day of the ICSA women’s national sailing semifinals at Cascade Lakes, Ore.

After the semifinals conclude today, the top nine teams will advance to the finals Thursday and Friday.

Hawaii has 103 points and is four points out of ninth place. The Rainbow Wahine’s Hannah Tuson-Turner and Hanne Nagatani are in sixth place in the A division, and Madeline Kennedy and Lani Johnson are in 10th in the B division.
