Pahoa man charged in fatal crash on Big Island
Hawaii County police charged the 52-year-old driver of a car that struck a motorcycle in Pahoa, killing its passenger and injuring its operator.
Fidel Jeronimo Bautista Jr. of Pahoa was charged last week with manslaughter, first-degree negligent homicide, first-degree negligent injury, operating a vehicle under the influence of an intoxicant, no operator’s license and no insurance, police said Monday.
The motorcycle passenger, a 61-year-old Vancouver, Wash., woman, died at 12:22 a.m. Thursday at the Hilo Medical Center from injuries received in the accident.
Police identified the woman as Linda McKee. McKee was thrown from the motorcycle.
The 55-year-old New Jersey man who was operating the motorcycle was in serious condition and underwent surgery. The two were not wearing helmets.

Bautista’s bail was set at $60,250, and he remains at the Hilo police cellblock.
