Teen arrested in zoo vandalism
Police have arrested a teenage boy on suspicion that he etched his name on the glass windows of several exhibits at the Honolulu Zoo on March 17.
Police said the boy, 14, was arrested yesterday on suspicion of second-degree criminal property damage and released pending an investigation. Zoo Director Manny Mollinedo said it cost $1,700 to repair the damage to the glass of several exhibits at the zoo’s African savannah exhibit.
Among the windows damaged were those in front of the cheetah, komodo dragon, Nile crocodile, baboon and wild hunting dog exhibits, Mollinedo said.
