Oregon State football player from Hawaii released from jail
CORVALLIS, Ore. >> Oregon State University football player Castro Masaniai was released from jail Monday in Corvallis after appearing in Benton County Circuit Court.
The 21-year-old is accused of dragging his girlfriend through a restaurant Saturday and faces charges that include coercion and harassment.
OSU has suspended the defensive tackle indefinitely. Masaniai is listed at OSU as a 6-2, 341-pound junior from Waipahu
Police says Masaniai argued with his 23-year-old girlfriend while they were traveling from Albany to Corvallis with their 2-year-old son and stopped at a restaurant.
The Gazette-Times reports Masaniai is due in court again May 26 for a status hearing on the case.
