Learn to whip up Korean side dishes and noodles from Walter Rhee

» Korean Side Dishes — Namools & Beyond (2:30-5:30 p.m. Thursday): Learn to make doo boo jorim (braised tofu with garlic and peppers), ge rahn mahl yi (egg roll), ge-ran chim (steamed egg), ho bahk sae woo juht (zucchini with salted shrimp), kong namool (fresh sautéed soy sprouts), moo chae (pickled radish), myul chi bokkum (candied anchovies), oi-moochim (sweet-and-sour garlic cucumbers) and taegu (spicy sweet dry cod).
» Oodles of Korean Noodles (2:30-5:30 p.m. Friday): The lesson includes sauces, toppings and broth for each dish, including sweet bi bim kook soo, spicy bi bim kook soo, mandoo kook soo, naeng myun (cold noodles), chol myun (chewy noodles), kohng kook soo (soybean extract cold noodles), kim chee bi bim kook soo and Korean oden udon.
Classes target healthier holiday eating

Lecturer dishes on organic isle corn
Learn about a sweet, organic corn developed in Hawaii, at a free lecture at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Kahuku Public & School Library.
"Meet the Corn Guy: Woody Parnell" will share information on Hawaiian Super Sweet No. 10 corn, developed by James Brewbaker of the University of Hawaii’s College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources.
