Police arrest Oregon State football player from Hawaii
PORTLAND, Ore. >> An Oregon State defensive tackle from Waiphau has been suspended after an arrest Saturday afternoon in Corvallis.
The Oregonian reports Castro Masaniai was booked in Benton County jail. He was charged with second-degree kidnapping, coercion, disorderly conduct, harassment and criminal mischief in an incident involving his girlfriend.
A spokesman from the Corvallis police department said Masaniai was arrested at a downtown McDonalds restaurant.
Police responded to a possible "assault in progress." The second-degree kidnapping charge stemmed from Masaniai’s apparent attempt to pull his girlfriend out of the restaurant.
OSU coach Mike Riley was out of town and not immediately available for comment.
Arraignment is expected to be sometime Monday. Masaniai is listed as a 6-2, 341-pound junior from Waipahu.
