A spooky Halloween episode guest-starring one of Hollywood’s favorite ghouls scored a solid demographic Nielsen rating for "Hawaii Five-0," according to numbers released by CBS on Tuesday.
"Five-0" finished the night in the key adults 18-49 demographic by drawing 3 percent of the total viewing audience and 9 percent of those watching TV at the time, CBS said. Its weekly rival, ABC’s "Castle," drew 2.7 of the total viewing audience and 9 percent of those watching TV at the time.
Overall, however, "Castle" drew 12.59 million viewers, which was several million higher than each of the past two weeks. "Five-0" drew 10.6 million viewers, which was nearly as much as the show attracted the previous week.
NBC, which had canceled its scripted drama "Playboy Club" at the start of October, aired the premiere of the newsmagazine "Rock Center with Brian Williams." It drew 4.14 million viewers.
The "Five-0" Halloween episode featured Robert Englund, who made a career out of playing the slasher Freddy Krueger in several "A Nightmare on Elm Street" films. On Monday, Englund played a drifter who threatens and curses the "Five-0" team as it investigates the murder of a couple at a traditional Hawaiian burial site.
