A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday for a 26-year-old security guard who allegedly fired three shots at two men and a woman carrying a 7-month-old girl following an argument last week near Wahiawa Shopping Center.

Raford Percival of Mililani was being held in lieu of $100,000 bail after being charged over the weekend with four counts of attempted murder in the first degree, reckless endangerment and firearms violations.

He appeared Monday in Honolulu District Court; his preliminary hearing will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in District Court.

Police said one of the male victims said he and the guard were arguing at his home, on Neal Avenue next to the shopping center, on Thursday evening. The victim was standing outside his home with his girlfriend, their 7-month-old daughter and his male cousin, a police affidavit said.

After the argument, the victim said, Percival walked to his car, which was parked at the shopping center, and retrieved a handgun, according to the affidavit.

"You think this is a game," Percival reportedly told the three people as he walked toward them brandishing the handgun. "You think this is a game."

After repeatedly saying that phrase, Percival fired a shot at them but missed, the man told police.

The victim said he chased Percival through a fence that separated the shopping center from his home, and Percival fired again and missed.

The victim’s cousin said Percival aimed the gun at the house and fired for the third time but again missed.

Percival then ran to the Wahiawa Foodland in the shopping center, where he was located by police.

Witnesses said they saw Percival toss the handgun into a trash can before he was arrested by police.

Three of the victims later were taken to the shopping center, where they identified Percival.
