Hawaii Pacific tops Dixie State in volleyball again
Sanoe Recca put down 20 kills and Haley Doerfler added a career-high 17 to lead Hawaii Pacific to a 25-23, 23-25, 25-21, 25-15 win over Dixie State in a Pacific West Conference volleyball match Tuesday night in St. George, Utah.
It was the second victory over the Red Storm (13-8, 8-5) in as many nights for the Sea Warriors (13-8, 8-4), who got a season-high 54 assists from setter Pihana Kea to go along with 11 digs. Libero Kyra Pelayo had 38 digs, Natasha Bell had 13 kills and 18 digs, Chelsey Buyuan had 18 digs and Recca 16 digs.
HPU, which won in five sets Monday, made a decisive run in Set 4 to prevent it from going to a fifth Tuesday. Leading 12-11, the Sea Warriors closed out the match with a 13-4 run that included six unanswered points.
