Scores of awards to be won in contest that honors Ching
The Clarence T.C. Ching "Inspired in Hawaii" 2011 essay, poster and video contest gives local students an opportunity to "dream big and make Hawaii a better place."
More than 80 awards, including cash prizes, will be provided for the winning entries, which must identify an existing problem in Hawaii and offer a solution to it. Students must also include a supporting statement that explains a connection between their project and the life of Ching.
Students may enter only one division. The poster division (open to grades kindergarten to 12) and the essay division (open to middle and high school students) are judged on content, creativity, theme and craftsmanship. High-schoolers can also enter the video division, which is judged on content, impact, creativity and videography. Video entries will be accepted from both teams and individuals.
Contest rules and entry forms can be downloaded at www.clarencetcchingfoundation.org. Last year’s winning entries are also posted on the website. Mail or deliver entries to The Clarence T.C. Ching Foundation, 1001 Bishop St., Suite 770, Honolulu, HI 96813. Deadline for submissions is Nov. 11.
