Pipe break in Kaimuki is repaired

Board of Water Supply crews restored water to 12 homes in Kaimuki early this morning after completing repairs to a break in a 76-year-old, 8-inch-diameter water line Thursday morning.

Repairs to the main were finished at 1:30 a.m., a Board of Water Supply spokeswoman said. Road repairs were completed at about 6 a.m.

The break closed traffic on Kilauea Avenue between 8th and 9th avenues following the water main break at 3429 Kilauea Ave. near Kapaolono Community Park at about 10:45 a.m. Thursday.

A water wagon was brought to the area provide customers with water.

The main was originally installed in 1935.
