Kauai dairy offers $11K for goat kill information
HONOLULU >> An $11,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for killing a Kauai goat.
Louisa Wooten of Kauai Kunana Dairy found the goat dead in a pasture on Friday. The Wooten family said in a statement they believe the goat was killed between sunset Thursday and sunrise on Friday.
Sunglasses, unspent shotgun shells and a Winchester hunting knife were found at the scene.
The family says the goat named Kaitlyn was two weeks away from giving birth to two kids. The animal generated $7,000 in annual income for the family.
The dairy located in Kilauea on Kauai’s north shore has a milking herd of about 30 goats, and 60 goats overall. The farm specializes in artisan goat cheese and goat milk products.
