Hwang captures D-II singles title
Brigham Young-Hawaii’s Annie Hwang won the Division II singles title at the women’s USTA/ITA Small College Tournament on Saturday.
Hwang defeated Barbara Krtickova of Armstrong Atlantic State 6-4, 6-4 in the final.
Bersamin and UHH repeat at Culturame
Hawaii-Hilo’s Dayna Bersamin defended her title in the Culturame Women’s Golf Classic hosted by George Fox University in Aloha, Ore., on Saturday.
Bersamin shot a 1-under 72 at The Reserve Vineyards and Golf Club in the final round and finished the tournament at even-par 146 for a four-stroke win over teammate and first-round leader Kristen Sawada.
The Vulcans also defended their team title with a score of 601 and won by 23 shots. George Fox finished second at 624.
Adric, Paling win national boxing titles
Hawaii’s Keoni Adric Jr. won the PAL national boxing championship in the 13-14 106-pound division in Toledo, Ohio, last week.
Adric, 14, defeated Devin Green of Chicago in the final.
Hawaii’s Christian Paling won the 13-14 94-pound division.
Adric and Paling were trained by 94-year-old Al Silva at the Waipahu Boxing Club.
Preus, Oda tied for amateur golf lead
Punahou’s Kalena Preus and Moanalua’s John Oda lead the way after one round at the Turtle Bay Amateur golf tournament on Saturday. Both posted 1-under-par 71s on the Arnold Palmer Course in blustery conditions.
‘Iolani’s Lorens Chan is one stroke back.
The tournament continues with the final round today.
Dixie State upends UHH in soccer
Jennifer Mason scored two goals to lead Dixie State to a 3-2 women’s soccer win over Hawaii-Hilo on Saturday in Hilo.
Kathryn Hayne also scored for the Rebels.
Lindsey Poulsen scored two goals for the Vulcans.

Cal Baptist tops Chaminade in soccer
Tyler Aagard scored in the 55th minute to lead Cal Baptist past Chaminade 2-1 in men’s soccer in Honolulu.
Osvaldo Bastida opened the scoring in the fourth minute for the Lancers.
Max Gerwalt gave the Silverswords a 1-1 tie in the 38th minute.

Chaminade falls on road
Ingrid Carmona had 21 kills and Cal Baptist defeated Chaminade 25-11, 25-23, 25-19 in Riverside, Calif.
Poerava Gantt led the Silverswords with nine kills and Whitney Viveiros and Crystal Powell added seven kills each.
