Kauai wins Division II baseball title
Kauai defeated Pac-Five 11-2 today to capture the Division II title in the Wally Yonamine Foundation/HHSAA State Baseball Championship.
Red Raider senior Shea Shimabukuro tossed a complete game in rainy conditions at Les Murakami Stadium and ended the game with a strikeout to give Kauai its second Division II championship.
Kauai took control with three runs in the top of the first inning, added two more in the third and four in the fourth.
Erin Doi drove in three runs with a double in the first and two-RBI single in the fourth as part of Kauai’s 11-hit attack.
Kauai defeated Waipahu 3-2 in a semifinal earlier in the day to earn a spot in the championship game. Pac-Five advanced with a 9-3 win over Molokai this morning.
