Hawaii well-represented at Pan Am Games
Eleven athletes with Hawaii ties are competing for the U.S. at the XVI Pan American Games, which begin Friday in Guadalajara, Mexico.
Brothers Pat and Ryan Dolan (Maryknoll) of Kailua, and Jake and Michael Luke of Honolulu, members of the Hawaii Canoe/Kayak Team, are participating in flatwater kayak. Tri Bourne (Academy of the Pacific) and former University of Hawaii player Matt Rawson are on the men’s volleyball team, and Tamari Miyashiro (Kalani) is on the women’s volleyball team.
Also competing are 2008 Olympian Clarissa Chun (Roosevelt) in freestyle wrestling, Shannon Nishi (Mid-Pacific Institute) in karate, Carsen Chun (Kalani) in team handball and Laie’s Tamua Anae in women’s water polo.
