Kauai police are investigating three burglaries where a total of nearly $20,000 was stolen from businesses at Coconut Marketplace in Kapaa. 

The burglaries are believed to have occurred sometime between Monday night and Tuesday morning. 

At 5:09 a.m. Tuesday, an alarm at Golden Nugget Jewelry was triggered when an unknown suspect or suspects apparently pried open a padlock to gain entry. More than $10,000 was reported stolen from the jewelry store. 

Island Fever located near the jewelry store also reported $10,000 in stolen merchandise. Police said the suspects also pried open a padlock to gain entry. 

Crazy Shirts were also targeted by the suspects, but no items were taken. 

Tutu’s Soup Hale in the Kinipopo Shopping Village located down the highway from Coconut Marketplace reported an attempted break-in that occurred sometime between 5:30 p.m. Monday and 7:20 a.m Tuesday. Police said the suspects attempted to gain access through the windows, but were unsuccessful because of metal bars that covered the windows. No items were taken, however, damage to the windows were estimated at $100.
