Moanalua’s Koga wins girls state golf title
Moanalua sophomore Eimi Koga held her lead against 35-mph winds and the pursuit of older players to win the David S. Ishii Foundation/HHSAA Girls Golf Championship today at Waikoloa Village Golf Course.
Koga, who has won the OIA title her first two years, shot 77 in the final round. Her two-day total of 3-over 147 was one shot better than Iolani junior Marissa Chow (74) and defending champion Cassy Isagawa (76), a Baldwin senior.
Alina Ching (77—149) took fourth to lead Punahou to its fifth consecutive team title. Ching, sophomore Kacie Komoto (79) and seniors Cyd Okino (79) and Michelle Condry (83) combined for a team score of 235 in the final round and 458 for the tournament to beat Waiakea by nine. Baldwin was third, another shot back.
