No car, no problem in downtown LA for a day
LOS ANGELES >> Nobody drives in LA.
That will be the surreal experience of many Southern Californians on Sunday as 10 blocks of downtown Los Angeles are closed to cars for the city’s CicLAvia celebration.
The festival in its third year is an attempt to get Angelenos to ditch their cars for a day in favor of their feet. Organizers call it LA’s biggest block party.
In addition to walkers, bikers and skaters, this year’s CicLAvia will include an unexpected twist — sitters.
LA’s ongoing anti-Wall Street protest occupies a space near City Hall within the event’s boundaries.

CicLAvia organizers say the protestors are a welcome addition, saying in a statement that “there’s room for everyone.”
