Falling tree branch leaves man in critical condition
A 29-year-old man was in critical condition Saturday after he was hit on the head by a large tree branch in lower Nuuanu Valley.
Paramedics took the man to the Queen’s Medical Center with a gash on the top of his head. According to emergency dispatch reports, a 300- to 400-pound branch fell about 20 feet and hit the man on the top of the head. He was knocked out for about three minutes.
Authorities said the incident happened about 2:50 p.m. while some workers trimmed a tree on the property of ISKON Hawaii, a Hare Krishna temple at 51 Coelho Way. The branch apparently swung out and hit the man, who reportedly was not working on the tree.
