An 84-year-old woman is dead following a single-vehicle crash in Wahiawa Sunday morning.

The medical examiner identified her tonight as Jean Shimaura.

According to police, Shimaura was driving eastward on California Avenue about 150 feet east of Plum Street when she lost control of her four-door sedan, which then struck a steel light pole. The crash happened around 11:40 a.m.

She was taken in critical condition to an area hospital, where she died.

Police said speed, drugs and alcohol are not believed to be factors. The accident occurred under clear conditions.
