Oahu coastline cleanup is part of Earth Day
Community volunteers, Boy Scouts and Hawaii House Minority Leader Gene Ward’s staff are cleaning up the a part of Oahu’s coastline this weekend in coordination with Earth Day.
The fifth annual event on the Ka Iwi State Scenic Shoreline on Saturday will remove burned crates, rusty nails, plastic bottles and bear cans from the coast.
Ward, a Republican representing Hawaii Kai, said he wants the coast to remain clean for all future generations.
Earth Day is today, but the cleanup was scheduled for tomorrow so that more people will be able to attend.
