A teenager accused of trying to kill a classmate at an Oahu high school has pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of attempted manslaughter under a deal reached with prosecutors. 

KITV reported Wednesday that Zoe Michael Espinola is to be sentenced to 18 months in prison and 10 years of probation as part of the plea agreement. Sentencing is scheduled for June. Espinola was charged as an adult last month with attempted murder in the stabbing, which carried a life sentence.

Prosecutors say then-17-year-old Espinola repeatedly stabbed another boy at Kalani High School last May. Other students say the boys were best friends and that the dispute may have been over a girl.
