The world’s largest gathering of neurologists is being held in Honolulu this weekend.
The American Academy of Neurology’s 63rd-Annual Meeting is expected to draw 9,000 people from 93 countries to the Hawaii Convention Center for one week starting Saturday.
Participants are expected to discuss the latest research on Alzheimer’s disease, strokes, migraines, multiple sclerosis, brain injuries, Parkinson’s disease and epilepsy.
More than 3,000 abstracts of scientific studies were submitted for the conference, of which more than 2,500 were accepted for presentation.
The Hawaii Convention Center said in a statement Thursday the meeting would generate $42 million in state revenue.
