Suspected bank robber makes bail
A Wahiawa man suspected of robbing three Central Oahu banks was released after posting $50,000 bail early yesterday morning.
John D. Olivas, 27, of Wahiawa was charged with three counts of first-degree robbery and then released on bail at 2:15 a.m., according to the Honolulu Police Department arrest log.
He is scheduled to make his first appearance at Honolulu District Court at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Olivas was arrested Thursday morning in Wahiawa.
Police believe he robbed the Mililani American Savings Bank branch twice — Tuesday and Feb. 2 — and the American Savings Bank branch in Wahiawa on Jan. 24.

The suspect in Tuesday’s robbery, who wore a white hat, a bright yellow and orange safety vest and slippers, demanded money and fled on foot at about 9 a.m.
Death sparks homicide investigation
Police are investigating a possible homicide involving a man who checked himself into the Queen’s Medical Center with unknown injuries early yesterday morning and then died a short time later.
Detectives said the case has preliminarily been classified an unattended death but confirmed that an investigation is ongoing. No other details were available.
Man charged in Kauai store heist
A Waimea man was charged yesterday with robbing Kaumakani Thrifty Mart last month on Kauai.
Timothy Richardson, 23, was charged with first-degree robbery and was being held in lieu of $20,000 bail.
Richardson entered the store on the afternoon of March 8, wearing dark clothes and sunglasses, a Kauai County spokeswoman said in a statement.
He pointed a handgun at the cashier and demanded money, the release said. The cashier retreated and Richardson fled without money or items.
