Suspect wanted in bank robbery

Police are asking for the public’s help locating a man in a yellow-and-orange safety vest who robbed the Mililani Town Center branch of American Savings Bank at 95-1248 Meheula Parkway yesterday morning.

Police said the man approached the teller and demanded money at 9:06 a.m., then fled on foot in an unknown direction. He is described as in his 30s, between 5 feet 4 and 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighing 180 to 200 pounds and having a broad nose.

Besides the safety vest, he was wearing a white hat, a blue long-sleeved T-shirt, blue denim jeans and slippers.

Man hospitalized after fall into ditch

A 69-year-old man who lives under a bridge was hospitalized after he slipped and fell about 10 to 12 feet into a culvert at the base of St. Louis Heights yesterday morning.

Firefighters and paramedics were sent to Waialae Avenue and St. Louis Heights Drive, where they found the man at about 7 a.m. in the concrete drainage culvert that is part of Palolo Stream, fire Capt. Terry Seelig said.

Firefighters used a ground ladder and basket stretcher to bring the man out of the ditch.

Paramedics transported him in serious condition to the hospital, a spokesman for the city Department of Emergency Services said.

Alarm aids police in home burglary

Police have arrested a 21-year-old Makakilo man who allegedly burglarized the Waipio-Gentry home of a 68-year-old woman.

Officers responding to a residential alarm arrived at the home at about 3 p.m. Monday and found the man walking away from the house.

Police stopped the man, who allegedly was carrying items stolen from inside the house, on Waipio Uka Street, police said. They arrested the man on suspicion of first-degree burglary.

Witness spots alleged graffiti sprayer

A 25-year-old Seattle man was arrested Thursday morning for spraying graffiti on the skate ramps at Kapaa skate park on Kauai.

A witness contacted authorities while the man was spraying the ramps and reported the incident. Damage to the facility was estimated at $800.

Police responded and arrested the man for criminal property damage.
