Inouye: US ground troops won’t land on Libyan soil
U.S. Sen. Daniel Inouye says he’s been assured by national leaders that military action in Libya won’t include American troops on Libyan soil.
The Democrat representing Hawaii said he participated in a conference call Friday with President Barack Obama, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Admiral Mike Mullen and the leadership of the House and Senate.
Inouye said the United States plays an important role, but the international effort will be a mission of NATO and the United Nations.
He said he’s pleased that additional members of the Arab League will support the mission.
