Homeless man charged with attempted murder in Whitmore Village
Prosecutors charged a 57-year-old homeless man with second-degree attemped murder for allegedly stabbing a 65-year-old man in Whitmore Village on Sunday night.
Dante A. Ilaban was being held on $15,000 bail after being charged on Monday.
A good Samaritan brought the 65-year-old man with multiple stab wounds to the Wahiawa General Hospital on Sunday, and he was rushed to the Queen’s Medical Center for emergency surgery, police said.
The victim told police that the man who stabbed him at about 8:30 p.m. Sunday was an acquaintance. Shortly afterward, Ilaban called 911 and turned himself in to police.
Ilaban was convicted in 2006 of possession of a prohibited gaff, a petty misdemeanor, and fined $250. He was also convicted of the same charge, as well as misdemeanor cruelty to animals in 1982, and fined $25 for each.
