Police reopened both directions of Kalanianaole Highway between Makai Pier and the Hawaii Kai Golf Course this afternoon after a mo-ped rider was killed in a crash near Baby Makapuu Beach.

Paramedics described the rider as a man in his 50s who was traveling with other mo-ped riders.

The highway was reopened just before 3:30 p.m. today.

South-bound traffic had been turned back at Makai Pier and north-bound traffic was turned around at the golf course, police said.

The closure was reported just after 1:20 p.m. today.
