Big Island fire helicopter rescues man who slips at waterfall
A Big Island fire helicopter rescued a man who slipped at the top of a waterfall and couldn’t climb to safety.
The man was hiking up the waterfall in the area of Boiling Pots about 2 p.m. Tueday when he slipped and fell onto rocks, possibly injuring his head and legs, firefighters said.
A fire helicopter used a 150-foot rope to lift the man to the parking lot where paramedics took over care. The man went to Hilo Medical Center in serious condition.
