Surf up to 8 feet due on northeast shores
A high surf advisory is in effect for the northeastern shores of the Hawaiian Islands until 6 a.m. Tuesday.
The National Weather Service said a swell building from the north will produce surf in the 6- to 8-foot range through Monday night.
The islands affected are Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, Maui and the Big Island.
Beach goers are warned to be careful of rip currents and beach erosion, the weather announcement said.
