No. 6 Texas shuts out Hawaii 2-0
Taylor Jungmann tossed a four-hit shutout and No. 6 Texas defeated Hawaii 2-0 in the opener of a three-game series tonight at Les Murakami Stadium.
Jungmann threw his second straight shutout to open the season, striking out nine without a walk.
The Rainbows (2-3) committed four errors, leading to Texas’ first run.
Brandon Loy led off the sixth with a double and scored on an RBI single by Erich Weiss.
Matt Sisto (0-1) took the loss for UH, allowing six hits and one earned run in six innings with no walks and four strikeouts.
Kolten Wong bunted for a single for UH’s first hit and Collin Bennett singled to center with one out in the fifth.

Zack Swasey and pinch-hitter Sean Montplaisir singled with two outs in the eighth, but Jungmann struck out Breland Almadova to end the inning.
