Two-car crash on Kauai injures four people

A 53-year-old Kalaheo man was airlifted to Oahu after a two-car crash on Kauai that also injured three other people.

The 8:48 a.m. crash closed Kaumualii Highway in Omao for nearly two hours Wednesday while police investigated.

Ken Firestone, 53, of Kalaheo, was driving a Dodge Neon west when he crossed the center line near the 8-mile marker and hit an oncoming Ford Taurus, a Kauai County spokeswoman said.

Firestone’s vehicle caught fire, but was quickly extinguished. Firefighters removed Firestone from the car, and he was taken to Wilcox Memorial Hospital, then airlifted to the Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu. His condition was not known.

Terrence Webber, 62, of Minnesota, his 61-year-old wife Diane and 28-year-old daughter Alli were in the Taurus and taken to Wilcox for treatment. The couple was expected to be released, and their daughter remained in stable condition at Wilcox.
