Power outage closes Honolulu District Court for rest of day
A power outage shut down the Honolulu District Court at Alakea Street this afternoon and closed the courthouse for the rest of the day.
The Judiciary said court officials anticipate they will reopen the building Tuesday morning as usual.
The outage occurred at 2 p.m. and shut off electricity and phone lines, according to the state Judiciary.
The courthouse, also known as Kauikeauoli Hale, was vacated except for some Judiciary employees.
The Hawaii Supreme Court has issued an order extending by one day the deadline for any filing or hearing due today.
Anyone whose case was scheduled during the afternoon calendar but who was unable to appear because of the outage should call 538-5767 for civil cases or 538-5500 for traffic cases.
