BRENNAN BACK ON HIS FEET | Colt Brennan, recovered from a serious car accident last November, threw passes yesterday to kids at the Barefoot League Field of Legends Football Clinic. The 2007 Heisman Trophy finalist from the University of Hawaii was among dozens of former and current college and professional football players with Hawaii ties at Aloha Stadium. They instructed hundreds of local youth football players during the second annual event.
Coolen and Trapasso at QB Club
Bob Coolen, the coach of the eighth-ranked Hawaii softball team, and Rainbows baseball coach Mike Trapasso are the featured speakers at tomorrow’s Honolulu Quarterback Club luncheon at Maple Garden restaurant on Isenberg Street.
Both the Rainbow Wahine and Rainbows are the defending Western Athletic Conference champions.
Lunch begins at 11:30 a.m., with the program to follow at noon. The cost is $15 and the public is invited.
Cougars edge Silverswords
Brenna Sandberg tossed a one-hitter and Alex Miller scored the only run of the game in the top of the fourth to give Cal State San Marcos a 1-0 victory over Chaminade in a nonconference softball game yesterday at Central Oahu Regional Park.
Kelly Korras gave up three hits in the loss for the Silverswords (3-3) against the Cougars (6-2).

The second game of the doubleheader was rained out and won’t be made up.
» Yesterday’s nonconference doubleheader between Hawaii Pacific and Azusa Pacific at Okita Field was rained out and will not be made up. The Sea Warriors (4-2), the defending NCAA D-II champions, host their alumnae today at noon and open PacWest play Saturday with a doubleheader at BYU-Hawaii beginning at noon.
HPU opens season with split
Hawaii Pacific combined two hits and two Patten (Calif.) errors for a four-run first inning en route to a 7-2 win and a split of the nonconference baseball doubleheader yesterday at Hans L’Orange Park.
The Lions (2-4) rallied from a 3-0 deficit in the first game, scoring the winning run in the top of the eighth for a 4-3 victory in the opener over the Sea Warriors (1-1).
