Lantern Festival lights up next week
The Friends of Chinatown are hoping for a good turnout of children at the Lantern Festival from 9 a.m. to noon next Sunday at Kekaulike Mall, between North King and Hotel streets.
Activities will include:
» Storytelling — Chinese myths and legends.
» Lantern making for children.
» A lion dance.
» A miniparade with lanterns.
» Chinese lantern riddles.
Traditionally, the Lantern Festival is held on the last day of the Chinese New Year celebrations. It falls on the 15th day of the first month of the Lunar Year, according to a release.

Sailing tours explore Kauai waters
Kauai’s Southern Star Yachting is offering two new tours for individuals or small groups, including a three-hour Sunset Prime Rib Dinner cruise off the South Shore and a six-hour hour Napali Snorkel BBQ Sail.
The Southern Star is a 65-foot luxury sailing catamaran. "Each trip is tailored to an individual’s desires and activity options include paddling into Napali sea caves, catching and grilling fresh fish or diving near the Forbidden Island of Niihau," according to a release. Farmers market boasts 20 vendors
Koloa, Kauai » Kauai Culinary Market, a gourmet farmers market, has debuted at Kukuiula Village. The weekly event features locally grown produce and other food from 20 vendors, plus live music, cooking demonstrations and a wine and beer garden.
