Kauai, Mid-Pacific play for D-II state title

Kauai and Mid-Pacific took different roads, but both made it to today’s Division II final of the JN Automotive Group/HHSAA Girls Soccer State Championships.
The Red Raiders (8-0-1) and the Owls (6-9-0) meet at 5 p.m. at Waipio Peninsula Soccer Stadium. The game will be televised on OC 16.
Kauai beat Kamehameha-Hawaii (10-3-4) and Mid-Pacific defeated top-seeded Hawaii Prep (10-3-1) yesterday in a pair of 1-0 decisions.

Senior midfielder Malia Kagawa scored in the 41st minute as the third-seeded Red Raiders remained the state’s only unbeaten Division II team.
The KIF champions beat Honokaa 3-0 in their quarterfinal match on Thursday and have yet to be scored upon in the tournament.
Jen Sasaki, a senior midfielder, scored in the fourth minute as the Owls continued their impressive tournament run. Mid-Pacific beat Kalaheo 4-1 in the first round Wednesday and fourth-seeded Seabury Hall 1-0 in the quarterfinals Thursday.
Mid-Pacific, the ILH’s lone representative, had a tournament-worst 3-9 record entering the states.

Senior forward Kim Kishimoto and sophomore forward Monica Carlos each scored two goals for the Dragons (8-6-2).
Senior midfielder Tialana Greenwell also scored for Honokaa. Senior midfielder Rachel Tenbroeke scored for the Mules (9-6-0).
Seabury Hall 1, Makua Lani Christian 0
Sophomore striker Lena Fox scored in the 17th minute as the MIL-champion Spartans (9-8-1) tripped the Lions (5-11-0). Seabury Hall plays Honokaa at 3 p.m. today on Waipio Peninsula Soccer Park’s field 6 for fifth place.
