Deadlocked in a scoreless tie after regulation and two sudden-death overtime periods, Sharayah Ah Chong, Haunani Tomas and Rachel Robertson came through on penalty kicks as Kamehameha-Hawaii downed second-seeded Leilehua 3-1 in penalty kicks in the quarterfinal round of the JN Automotive Group/HHSAA Division II Girls Soccer State Championships.

The match, as well as all other D-II matches, were played yesterday at the Waipio Peninsula Soccer Complex.

The Warriors (10-2-4) created numerous scoring chances but could not break through in regulation.

And the Mules (9-5-0), the OIA’s highest-seeded entry, had at least two good shots on goal, but also came away empty in the two sudden-death overtime periods.

Senior midfielder Rachel Ten Broeke was the only Leilehua player to convert a penalty kick.

Kamehameha-Hawaii faces Kauai in a 3 p.m. semifinal match today.

Alyssa Vegas tallied two goals to lead the third-seeded Red Raiders past the Dragons and into the semifinals.

Vegas, a sophomore forward, scored in the 18th minute and Alexa Tamashiro added a goal before halftime, as the KIF champions led 2-0 at the break. Vegas added her second goal of the game in the 52nd minute.

Hawaii Prep 1, Makua Lani 0

Junior forward Hannah Unger scored in the 42nd minute to lift top-seeded Ka Makani past the Lions and into today’s semifinal at 3 p.m. against Mid-Pacific.

Mid-Pacific 1, Seabury Hall 0

The Owls had just enough to edge the Spartans as sophomore forward Julie Khil broke through in the 55th minute with a goal, lifting MPI into the semifinals.

CONSOLATION BRACKET

Kalaheo 6, Waipahu 1

Jordan Rey scored two first-half goals as the Mustangs overwhelmed the Marauders.

Rey, a sophomore forward, scored in the 14th and 37th minute, leading Kalaheo to a 3-1 halftime lead. Jazmin Lugo, Kiana Forsythe, Rachel Peck and Joni Sawada also scored for the Mustangs.

Jahna Tacson scored for Waipahu.

Radford 3, St. Anthony 2

Freshman midfielder Kourtnie Jury-Hale scored in the 80th minute to break a 2-2 deadlock as the Rams downed the Trojans.

Radford raced ahead behind first-half goals by Marley Wilkins (9th minute) and Breanna Lechner (20th minute), but sophomore midfielder Estelle Rossman rallied St. Anthony with a goal in the 29th minute and teammate Rachel Uehara tied the game in the 43rd minute.
