Wahiawa man arrested in sports betting investigation
A 58-year-old Wahiawa man was arrested yesterday in a sports gambling investigation.
The arrest wrapped up a months-long investigation by HPD’s Narcotics and Vice Division into a sports betting operation, said Honolulu police spokeswoman Michelle Yu.
No other details were available.
The man was arrested on suspicion of six counts of first-degree promotion of gambling, nine counts of second-degree promotion of gambling, and two contempt of court counts. He was released pending investigation.
He was arrested about 1:10 p.m. at Dillingham Boulevard and Alakawa Street, but Yu said that was not the location of the man’s operation.
