The 1,229-room Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort and Spa has begun a $13 million, three-phase renovation.

The renovation, which is slated to run through September, will transform the property’s third-floor public space, pool-side lounge and bar and pool deck. Hyatt also will add two new restaurants and upgrade its 39th-floor Regency Club, where its most loyal customers get exclusive perks.

"This is a great moment in Hyatt Regency Waikiki’s history. We are ready for this new development, which will enhance the guest experience," said David Lewin, general manager at Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort and Spa.

Earlier this month, Hyatt began its renovations with the closure of the Terrace Grille. The resort is slated to unveil SHOR, an American Seafood Grill, in late April. The restaurant, which will be adjacent to Hyatt’s Regency Club, will offer fish and shellfish approved by the sustainable Seafood Watch Program as well as meat. During SHOR’s renovation, Hyatt will serve breakfast and lunch at Ciao Mein, on the third floor of the Ewa Tower.

Hyatt will close Ciao Mein and the Elegant Dive pool bar near the end of April. Japengo, a Pacific Rim cuisine restaurant, and SWIM, a full-service outdoor patio and pool-side bar, are expected to be completed in September. The resort’s swimming pool and pool deck will begin refurbishment in May with completion set for mid-August.
