Cost of public school lunches going up
Public school meal prices are going up across the state.
The Department of Education announced that lunches for students and adults will increase by 15 cents and 30 cents, respectively, effective March 1.
Breakfasts for students and adults will rise by 5 cents and 10 cents, respectively.
The changes in price are the result of a state law passed in 2009 requiring that school meal prices are at least half the cost of preparing the meals.
A student who purchases a regular breakfast and regular lunch will pay $1 more per week.
School meal prices were last raised Jan. 1, 2010.
