‘Five-0’ comes in second to debut of ‘Harry’s Law’

In a tight ratings race Monday night, the debut of Oscar-winning actress Kathy Bates on NBC edged the “Hawaii Five-0” debut of Reiko Aylesworth as Chin Ho Kelly’s ex-fiancee.

Bates’ new show “Harry’s Law” drew 11.04 million viewers while CBS’ “Five-0” drew 10.62 million, according to Nielsen figures released by CBS. ABC aired a re-run of “Castle,” the only show that has challenged “Five-0” this season, and drew 5.67 million viewers.

In “Harry’s Law,” Bates plays a frank-talking attorney.

On “Five-0,” Aylesworth guest-starred as Dr. Malia Weston, who has an awkward reunion with her one-time flame.

CBS plans to air a new “Five-0” episode in a special Sunday night time slot right after this weekend’s the NFL’s AFC championship game. The game is scheduled to kickoff at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Hawaii time, with the new episode of the crime drama airing at 6 p.m. on KGMB.

The network said this is a special event and that it’s not testing the idea of a permanent Sunday time slot for the show, which normally airs at 9 p.m. Mondays.

CBS plans to air a rerun of “Five-0” at its regular time the following night, Jan. 24.
