Man who died after crashing mo-ped identified
The Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office identified a 21-year-old man who died in a Village Park moped crash yesterday as Tyson Mitsu Decosta of Waipahu.
The results of an autopsy were not available today.
Police said Decosta was driving a stolen, yellow 1998 moped that crashed into the back of a parked pickup on Kupuna Loop yesterday about 5:24 p.m.
He was ejected onto the road and sustained head injuries, police said. His condition worsened in the hospital and he died at 10:22 p.m., police said.
Police said speed may have been a factor in the crash, and Decosta was not wearing a helmet.
