Big Island men charged with drug offenses after police search their homes

Two Puna men were charged with drug crimes after officers found crystal methamphetamine, marijuana plants, pills and firearms in their Mountain View houses, police said.

Vice officers served a search warrant Tuesday at two structures on the property and arrested George Pavao III, 48; John Alexander, 58; and a 23-year-old woman, who was later released pending investigation.

Pavao was charged yesterdau with seven drug offenses, including methamphetamine trafficking. Two of the drug counts stemmed from Pavao selling marijuana to a police informant on Dec. 1 and 7, Big Island police said.

His bail was set at $367,000.

John Alexander was charged with three drug counts and two firearm offenses. His bail was set at $62,000.

Officers searching Pavao’s home found 10.9 grams of "ice" in 19 separate resealable plastic bags, 1.6 grams of dry processed marijuana, scales, and numerous morphine, oxycodone, and hydrocodone pills, police said.

At Alexander’s property, officers discovered 20.3 grams of dried marijuana, "ice" pipes, scales, two rifles and a shotgun, police said.
