Waipahu man charged in stabbing death of another man
A 29-year-old Paiwa Street man was charged today in the stabbing death of another Waipahu man early Sunday morning.
Peter David was charged with second-degree murder and second-degree assault and is being held at the Honolulu Police Department’s Alapai cellblock on $100,000 bail.
A witness told detectives that David fought Santhony Albert, 27, in front of Albert’s home on Awanei Street in lower Waipahu about 1 a.m., according to an HPD affidavit filed in Honolulu District Court.
At one point, David chased Albert down a nearby street.
An acquaintance intervened and helped Albert walk back to the Awanei residence, where he collapsed, police said. Peter then approached Albert carrying rocks in each of his hands before the acquaintance then intervened again. Peter then fled the scene, police said.
Albert was taken by paramedics to Hawaii Medical Center West in critical condition where he was pronounced dead. Police said he suffered at least one stab wound to the upper left side of his body.
