HPU rolls past Westminster

Royal Edwards scored 13 points to lead Hawaii Pacific to a 66-37 win over Westminster (Mo.) in a nonconference men’s basketball game at Blaisdell Arena.

Edwards also had a team-high four steals for the Sea Warriors (5-7), who raced out to a 36-16 halftime lead over the Blue Jays (5-6).

Sea Warriors win fifth in a row

In the earlier women’s game, Melody Ladrido and Skye Savini came off the bench for 17 points each to lead Hawaii Pacific past Westminster 94-73.

Mana Hopkins-Vandenakker added 14 points and Paris Gravely 11 for the Sea Warriors (6-3), winning their fifth consecutive game with their highest offensive output of the season.

Rachel Backes scored 23 points and Hannah Kloster 21 for the Blue Jays (5-5).

 

Takahara-Dias, Reardon at QB club

Hawaii women’s basketball coach Dana Takahara-Dias and Honolulu Star-Advertiser columnist Dave Reardon are the featured speakers at tomorrow’s Honolulu Quarterback Club luncheon at the Maple Garden restaurant on Isenberg Street.

Also, Rainbow Wahine senior guard Megan Tinnin, who recently broke the program record for most 3-pointers, will receive her sportsperson of the month award from November.

Lunch begins at 11:30 a.m. for a cost of $15. The program follows at noon.
