Celebrate Oshogatsu

During the New Year’s season, many local residents and businesses observe the Japanese tradition of placing kadomatsu at the doorway. Attend a free demonstration of how the bamboo and pine displays are put together from 9 a.m. to noon tomorrow at the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawai’i, 2454 S. Beretania St. The event is co-sponsored by the TEMARI Center for Asian & Pacific Arts and Kuhio Lions Club. Call 945-7633 or visit www.jcch.com.
