Kauai police are looking for suspects who used a BB gun to shoot two teenage bicyclists over the weekend.

At approximately 4 p.m. Saturday, police said, brothers ages 15 and 17, were bicycling east along Kawaihau Road next to the Kapaa Elementary School basketball court. The boys saw a gun barrel protruding from the rear passenger window of an approaching black sport utility vehicle. Police said the boys were shot several times, leaving welts on their bodies. 

The victims’ father called authorities and transported his sons to Mahelona Hospital, where they were treated and released. 

Police are conducting an investigation. The SUV had tinted windows and chrome bumpers.
